Ha Long Bay cruise worth the cost or is it just a massive tourist trap

The overnight cruise prices seem high, are the views really that spectacular or is Ninh Binh a better choice for limestone karsts scenery!
 
Do the 2-day/1-night, it's worth it for the views alone and getting away from the day-trippers. Just pick a mid-range boat to avoid the party scene and the really budget ones.
