Rome's Colosseum - Guide or Self-Explore?

Having a licensed guide for the Colosseum brought the ancient ruins to life with stories and context that a sign could never convey. Getting the skip-the-line access was also a major time saver during the peak season. Do others agree with this?

A guide is 100% the way to go there. Without a guide, it's just old walls, but with one, you hear all the crazy history and imagine the gladiators. And seriously, skipping that line is worth the price alone. Totally agree.
